Hi, I'm Roan Thorton

I was born and raised in the BVI with the exception of secondary school and university in England. I grew up with a passion for the ocean being surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery on the planet. My love for the marine industry really grew when my parents signed me up for after school activities such as sailing and KATS (kids and the sea) program where I learned scuba diving, knot tying, survival skills and general seamanship. Aside from my passion for the ocean and boating, I am also very passionate about sports such as rugby and cricket

Our Story

I started the business in 2016 when people started asking me if they could rent my 23' Ribcraft, the Pink Panther. This was a boat that I had saved for years to buy. Although hesitant to rent out my pride and joy, it was when my first son was born that I realised I had to think about a future career. This was when I became a licensed captain and sold the Pink Panther to buy Senses, a 26' Grady White. After only a few months in business Hurricane Irma hit in September 2017, devastating the island and destroying 9/10 boats. Luckily, Senses survived and an opportunity to work with a private island resort arose, keeping the business going until the BVI rebuilt. And, just as it felt like we were recovering and ready to welcome visitors once again - COVID struck. It was at this point that I almost gave up and sold everything, but another opportunity appeared in delivering boats between the BVI and USVI.

During COVID, myself and a team of out-of-work captains delivered around 400+ boats which gave us a much needed boost and most importantly - it led to the acquisition of MALU, our beloved 32' World Cat which we are known for today. It was through these experiences that I learned to be patient and grateful for what I have, but also that we have a huge amount of support from our incredible clients who keep coming back! We continue to grow whilst never losing that passion for the ocean, and sharing the beauty of the British Virgin Islands with our friends from near and far
